Today’s Updates

Market Snapshot 1-31-17

The US markets aren’t holding onto new highs and with today’s leak of potential restrictions on H1B visas, this could be a direct hit to the Tech industry, specifically SOXL (US Semi Conductors). There doesn’t be enough of a spook to move everyone to safer haven investments such as Gold, but let’s watch this carefully and see who benefits and who doesn’t.

LABU (Bio Tech) moved 2x it’s daily ATR, but is still in a triangle consolidation. Waiting for a possible break out for a directional trade.

I’m not taking on any new positions for tomorrow as I’m still fairly saturated on positions currently.

Positions I’m selling

Sell ERY (Inverse Energy Exploration Companies) Limit @ $11.25 13.75% or ($1,457 Profit)
Sell ERY (Inverse Energy Exploration Companies) Stop Limit @ $9.25 6.47% or ($685 Loss)

With the move lower in UGAZ (Natural Gas) I’d figure we’d close higher in ERY, but the intraday move was promising. Keeping the same orders for tomorrow.

ERY 1-31-17

Sell EDC (Emerging Markets) Limit @ $66.00 8.77% or ($984 Profit)
Sell EDC (Emerging Markets) Stop Limit @ $57.50 5.24% or ($588 Loss)

EDC remained flat today. Same orders for tomorrow.

EDC 1-31-17

Sell DRN (Real Estate) Limit @ $26.00 17.65% or ($2,249 Profit)
Sell DRN (Real Estate) Stop Limit @ $19.50 11.76% or ($1,500 Loss)

I was thinking of selling DRN today, but the intraday move retraced almost 2 full days. Perhaps this one may be worth holding onto. I was spooked out too early with RUSL and it came close to my sell limit, let’s let this position ride another day.

DRN 1-31-17

Sell TMV (Inverse 20+ Year Treasury Bonds) Limit @ $27.20 18.26% or ($3,150 Profit)
Sell TMV (Inverse 20+ Year Treasury Bonds) Stop Limit @ $21.00 8.70% or ($1,500 Loss)

Bonds are still relatively flat. Sitting in a tiny profit, same orders for tomorrow.

TMV 1-31-17

Sell SOXL (US Semi Conductors) Limit @ $72.00 8.86% or ($926 Profit)
Sell SOXL (US Semi Conductors) Stop Limit @ $59.00 10.08% or ($1,128 Loss)

With today’s leaked H1B Executive Order planning, this could have a major impact on the tech industry. SOXL is primed to take the biggest hit, if not only for the short term as investors see a future impact to tech companies. I’m pushing up my stop to $59 to limit the losses. Since nothing has been officially released, no one knows how large the impact will be, but I want to give it another day to see if the strength that got SOXL breaking new highs has faded as a result of today’s news.

Today’s Update

Market Snapshot 1-30-17

Markets did not react positively to the various executive orders over the weekend. Today’s correlation was very strong. Gold didn’t see a massive influx like one would suspect, but today was only one day. Also, one day doesn’t signal a big reversal, however today’s moves were larger in size than I wanted to see in some of my positions. Specifically Brazil, it broke out of it’s upper trend channel today and took out about 5 days of movement in one day.

I’ve been heavy in bullish positions and to see a strong market correlation like today made me want to get out of the worst of them which was BRZU (Brazil).

Sold BRZU (Brazil) Limit @ $50.00 12.41% or ($644 Loss)

Chart of BRZU (Brazil) and my exit order for today. I can always jump back in if it gets up to $44.50 again, but with the market correlation this was the first signal we’re not hitting $50 any time soon.
BRZU 1-30-17

Positions I’m selling

Sell ERY (Inverse Energy Exploration Companies) Limit @ $11.25 13.75% or ($1,457 Profit)
Sell ERY (Inverse Energy Exploration Companies) Stop Limit @ $9.25 6.47% or ($685 Loss)

ERX (Energy Exploration Companies) had a big move lower today breaking the 100-day EMA. If we look at the possibility this could fall all the way to the lower trend channel around $31.00 then there is some very good potential for my position in ERY (Inverse Energy Exploration Companies)

ERX 1-30-17

Chart and UPDATED orders for ERY (Inverse Energy Exploration Companies). I’m pushing up my stop and pushing out my limit order to take advantage of a possibly bigger move signaled by the big move today.

ERY 1-30-17

Sell EDC (Emerging Markets) Limit @ $66.00 8.77% or ($984 Profit)
Sell EDC (Emerging Markets) Stop Limit @ $57.50 5.24% or ($588 Loss)

EDC sitting on it’s 3rd day down after narrowly missing my profit target. Price is still in it’s uptrend, so I’m going to wait to see if we fall out of the trend channel before I bail out on this position.

EDC 1-30-17

Sell DRN (Real Estate) Limit @ $26.00 17.65% or ($2,249 Profit)
Sell DRN (Real Estate) Stop Limit @ $19.50 11.76% or ($1,500 Loss)

DRN is now on it’s 4th day down. I’m no longer confident of a bullish move now, but I don’t want to sell out with this many down days. I’ll wait for the first green day to recoup some and then sell out. We’re below all the major moving averages and the short term support of $21.00. Unless there is a very sharp reversal day, I won’t be in this trade much longer.

DRN 1-30-17

Sell TMV (Inverse 20+ Year Treasury Bonds) Limit @ $27.20 18.26% or ($3,150 Profit)
Sell TMV (Inverse 20+ Year Treasury Bonds) Stop Limit @ $21.00 8.70% or ($1,500 Loss)

Small movement higher today. Same orders for tomorrow.

TMV 1-30-17

Sell SOXL (US Semi Conductors) Limit @ $72.00 8.86% or ($926 Profit)
Sell SOXL (US Semi Conductors) Stop Limit @ $55.00 16.84% or ($1,760 Loss)

SOXL gapped lower today and it looked like it was going to be a much worse day than expected, however it ended up recovering and closing where it opened, so this could be a sign of future strength to come.
